MyTown - Wrentham, MA

A little background...

I grew up in a small town south of Boston called Wrentham. The town was founded, I believe, in 1638 or thereabouts. The Patriots played in Sullivan Stadium, down the street (it's called CMGI now, and isn't even the same stadium... the original was demolished recently). I got my hair cut at the barber shop uptown. I bought my shoes in the next town over (5 minutes town the road) at Pisini Shoes... Mr. Pisini (and his son) still run the place to this day. I worked on old Camaros, Mustangs, Chargers growing up. Cars were very important. I took the T to school. A million other places and memories are sifted through every time I visit, so I thought I'd share some of my town, my memories.... (in no particular order by the way). I'll be adding to this irregularly, depending on when and for how long I get home to visit.

I'll start with this photo for purely symbolic reasons, as this essay is a bit of a window into my world. It certainly was never a dangerous place, so I can only guess people their were either paranoid, or simply liked decorative window work.

This is the bandstand in the center of town. It's surrounded by a nice open park area, and we'd come here on weekends to listen to live music. Bands still play here on Sunday nights.

Need a haircut? Don't come here unless you want a buzz cut. That's all I remember about this place.

This was taken in East Boston. My grandfather's old neighborhood. Logan Airport is off in the distance. There's a beach on the other side of the bridge... probably the worst beach in the country. Nothing like swimming (!) in Boston harbor, listening to planes take off.

Same bridge from the side.
